The Originals’ Joseph Morgan: I was completely caught off guard by Klaus becoming a father.

Eonline interviewed our favorite Two Original Brothers Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies during the CW Upfront and they talked about Klaus’ baby and how it pretty much shocked Joseph plus they revealed what to expect from The Originals when it debuts this fall.

I hope with Charles as well as we can go for the Three Men and a Baby,” Morgan jokes of the baby plot on the new series, before Gillies adds, “I’ll be Tom Selleck, you can be Steve Guttenberg!”

Along with the fans, Morgan admits he was completely caught off guard by Klaus becoming a father, saying, “I knew it was going to be her baby and I still didn’t clue in that I was the father of it!”

And as for how The Originals will differ from Vampire Diaries, Morgan explains, “It’s going to be darker, a little sexier and edgier. Vampire Diaries was more about these kids growing up, a coming-of-age high school story; our show is more about creatures embracing their true nature and reveling in that.”

TVGuide.com talked with Joseph Morgan about the Klaus-Caroline journey from the Vampire Diaries season finale and for scoop on The Originals, including when he thinks the Original baby will be born.
Joseph said goodbye to Vampire Diaries and was ready to move on to New Orleans but says that the door is always open for more Klaus-and-Caroline stories to be told.

“[There was] a responsibility for the fans who were rooting for Klaus and Caroline to at least give them some sort of resolve,” Morgan told TVGuide.com at The CW upfront. “That’s not saying it’s the end of that because there’s the potential of crossovers, but to acknowledge that we owed that to them. It was really generous of [the writers] that after all the terrible things that Klaus has done, to give me something where he can come in and save the day.”

TV Fanatic caught up with Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies on the green carpet at the CW upfronts in New York today to ask about their biggest hope for their characters in The Originals series. Watch below. You might actually like Daniel’s idea.

They also chatted with Claire Holt about her character in the new show.
