Rebekah
*The following text may contain spoilers.

Rebekah Mikaelson is the only female Original Vampire, daughter of Esther and Mikael. She has four older brothers Elijah, Finn, Niklaus and Kol and one younger brother Henrik. She is the only daughter of Mikael and Esther and she is the youngest among all her surviving siblings.
She was born in Mystic Falls around 1000 years ago. Their family lived among werewolves in peace for about 20 years until one day Niklaus took their youngest brother Henrik to see the men turn into beasts. Things did not go as planned and Henrik was killed. Not wanting to lose another child, their mother Esther, the Original witch, along with their father Mikael cast a spell for immortality on all of them. Unknown to Rebekah and her brothers, they drank wine laced with Original Petrova’s, Tatia’s blood and Mikael stabbed them all, killing them. And that is how the vampires were born.
Rebekah was devastated when their mother died and believed Mikael had killed her. Rebekah’s two brothers Kol and Finn fled Mystic Falls while Elijah and Niklaus decided to stay. The three of them made a pact and promised that they would never turn their backs on each other and would always stick together as one. Even in her human years Rebekah was very close to them and Henrik.
After the dreadful events in Mystic Falls they were forever running from Mikael who wanted to kill Klaus since he was not his son. Rebekah always stayed by Nik’s side and he was very protective of her. In the 1920s, moving from town to town, Rebekah and Klaus found themselves in Chicago. There she met the younger Salvatore brother – Stefan and immediately fell in love with him. But shortly after, she was forced to choose between him and her brother. When she chose Stefan, a dagger ended up in her heart.
Ninety years later, Klaus pulled the dagger out so she would help him to find out why he couldn’t create hybrids. She appeared to be short-tempered but quickly forgave her brother. As pleased to see Stefan as she was, her jealousy awoke when she learned about his love to Elena. That soon led them back to Mystic Falls where they found out the doppelganger was still alive.
After Klaus found out what he needed to create more hybrids, he fled, leaving Rebekah behind. She accommodated herself in the Salvatore boarding house and enrolled in Mystic Falls high school, where she declared a war against Caroline, wanting not only her place in the cheerleading squad but also her boyfriend.
Not long after, Rebekah found out that it wasn’t Mikael who killed her mother, but Klaus. She was devastated by the truth and agreed to help the others with a plan to kill her brother. But right before homecoming, Elena decided she couldn’t trust her with that plan and literally stabbed her in the back with a dagger, neutralizing her.
After Klaus tried to kill Jeremy, Elena negotiated her brother’s safety by pulling the dagger out and letting Klaus take his sister. But learning that she knows the truth about their mother’s death, Klaus put the dagger back into her heart.
Later, surprisingly to Klaus, Elijah resurrected her, together with their brothers Kol and Finn and the four of them, all furious at Klaus, declared they’d reunite their family on their own. It was then when their mother walked in, back from the dead, and changed their intentions.
Staying in Mystic Falls, Rebekah went after Elena, first, trying to bite her on a parking lot, then planning to kill Matt so she would hurt her, spending a night in Damon’s bed and in the end, holding her hostage until Esther’s plan to kill all her children was ruined…
When that happened, Rebekah went home to find out her family falling apart again. And again she chose to stay with Klaus. She is most stubborn and ill-tempered among her siblings
As a vampire, Rebekah has the ability to heal fast, as well as super strength and speed, and compulsion.
As an Original, Rebekah is not affected by the sun and can compel not only humans, but also other vampires and hybrids. She is immortal, nearly indestructible. The only weapon that could kill her is a stake, made from the white oak tree, which was burnt to the ground in the 10th century. A silver dagger, dipped in the ash of that tree would ‘kill’ an original but only until the dagger stays in their heart.
